Article 22 A Good Revit Model

Hello Connections,

?

From the previous two articles, we have been discussing features of a good Revit Model. In this Article as well, we will continue with the same. So far we have seen four steps in creating a good Revit Model.

We will discuss further one more step here

Step 5: Locate the Project Base Point in Revit Model-

Assign your Project Base Point

Once you understand your project particulars with a little more definition and you can identify a fixed point in the project (existing element that will remain unchanged) or something that is likely to be fixed from the early project development (eg. a grid intersection) it is time to set up the project base point location. This is hugely beneficial as it will enable you to easily link and coordinate multiple discipline models with very little effort. To relocate your Project Base Point in Revit, do the following.

·???????Pick a known point / Grid intersection?that is likely to?remain stationary?for the?project duration.

·???????Go to a suitable plan View. I find working in the Site Plan to be the best for this exercise.

·???????If the Project Base Point and Survey Point are not visible by default in your chosen plan view, you can turn on their visibility in the Visibility Graphics Window:?VG→Site (expand) →Project Basepoint and Survey Point (Visible = on)

·???????Select the Project Base Point, and “Unclip” it?

·???????Move the Project Base point to your known Fixed Location

·???????Clip the Project Basepoint to lock in the location.

We will continue the discussion in the upcoming articles as well. So stay tuned for our latest articles and posts on the AEC industry. Please visit our website for more information on our Services & Solutions
