On the 15th of January 2024 I signed up for two #Racethesun charity events where I will take on two independent triathlons. The first event location is situated within the Jurassic Coast England, UK in June and then in September the second challenge is held within the Lake District, England UK. These events are to support a children's charity Action Medical Research. There is plenty of time to sponsor me and the team should you wish to support, please click on the link here. Your sponsorship will help fund vital research to help defeat the diseases that devastate the lives of sick disabled babies, children and young adults.
A number of weeks ago I promised to share my journey each month so here I am providing my second update.
What have been my learnings and insights over the last 4 weeks?
In the whirlwind of life, change is the only constant. Whether it's a leap into something new such as a personal challenge, new career or perhaps a relocation to a different city, navigating positive personal change demands a blend of adaptability and resilience. For many including myself this journey extends beyond the familiar confines of home, introducing challenges like working away from home, grappling with time zone changes, and the necessity for improvisation to ensure consistency. For me, the last four weeks have been all the above! Working in different countries, cities and across multiple time zones which at times has challenged me in so many ways. Amidst these trials, I've discovered that the crucible of physical challenge, particularly during workouts, has sculpted not only my body but also my mind, fostering a mindset of openness to possibilities and resilience in the face of adversity.
Uncharted territory & tapping into positive mindset
Uncharted territory is where my routines were disrupted and comfort zones were left behind. The initial adjustment was daunting, especially so early into my training plan.? BUT it was also an opportunity for personal growth. Embracing adaptability and remaining open to new experiences, forging connections with unfamiliar surroundings, and embracing the journey of self-discovery, using gentleness and compassion as my guide.? I suddenly found my confidence in hotel gyms, ensured I reached my daily step count by walking everywhere even when I was allocated to the 29th floor and I have more than ever reached a new height of gratitude for not having to prepare my own meals. What a privilege!?
Ultimately the uncharted territory has allowed me to push my mind open, there's a beauty in the vastness of the horizon, where the sky meets the earth in an endless embrace. It's a sight that stretches the limits of our perception, inviting us to expand our horizons and push the boundaries of our understanding. Much like the horizon, the mind holds infinite potential waiting to be explored, and it's in the act of pushing it open that we discover the true depths of our capabilities. ‘Once your mindset changes, everything on the outside will change along with it.’? — Steve Maraboli
"How do you approach and navigate uncharted territory in your life or endeavors?" - I would love to hear from you.?

Determination & fulfillment?
In my personal journey over the last 6 weeks, I've found that the most profound moments of strength and resilience emerge at the start of physical challenges— the moments when fatigue threatens to overwhelm, yet determination propels me forward. It's during these workouts that I've experienced the transformative power of positive personal change, sculpting not just my body, but also my mindset. The exhaustion and exhilaration of pushing physical limits serve as a metaphor for embracing change with open arms, relishing the journey, and embracing the unknown with unwavering determination.?
Moreover, the craving for the sense of accomplishment and fulfillment earned through physical exertion on rest days underscores the deep-seated desire for growth and self-improvement. It's a reminder that true fulfillment cannot be bought; it must be earned through perseverance, resilience, and a willingness to embrace change. Like a storm, I find myself being shaped by resistance, allowing the change to occur within me, knowing when to push through or re-route like the flow of water and find ways to go around it, truly listening to my body. I believe the best way to take care of ourselves is to challenge ourselves…. It’s our soul calling to remind us of our strength and changing the chemistry of our bodies to reset us.
Celebrating small wins and big gains = PROGRESS!
Celebrating small wins and big gains is an essential part of any journey towards health and well-being. From shedding a few kilos to increasing personal strength and endurance, every achievement, no matter how small, deserves self recognition. In my case; early this morning I met with my personal trainer, four weeks into the plan and I have achieved much more than I ever would have thought is possible, each metric for me represents small wins and big gains! My exhilaration of holding a plank for twice as long as I could only four weeks ago allows me to track my progress - each tiny milestone signifies determination, sweat, tears and progress. I have seen a drop in body fat and increase in muscle mass, reduction of inches are all to name a few metrics of which I will continue to monitor this year.??
Moreover, the newfound passion for healthy cooking reflects a deeper commitment to self-care and nourishment. These victories, both big and small, instill a sense of excitement and pride, fueling a healthy addiction to well-being that propels the journey forward with renewed vigor and enthusiasm! With only 114 days until my first triathlon I am feeling optimistic and ready to tackle whatever challenges lie ahead in my training program. Each workout, each mile I cycle, hike or weight train is an opportunity to build strength and endurance and sharpen my mind. I will stay committed to my training plan, listen to my body, and will not forget to incorporate rest and recovery into my routine to prevent burnout and injury.?
Starting today, we get to choose how we will be adaptable and resilient to create positive change. Forget yesterday! You have a blank page and can write the new chapter…. what will your chapter look like?
