Article 12: Creating Implementation Projects in Oracle Fusion

This article is related to the creation of an Implementation project in Oracle Fusion. “Implementation Project is nothing but a group of offerings which we required to implement for our client/customer, The concept of Implementation project is just to manage the project “. Indeed, it’s not mandatory to create an Implementation project always while we are implementing oracle for a customer/client. We can do the tasks which is assigned in the Implementation project directly through the offerings in the Setup and Maintenance (FSM) and via Global Search also.

To create an Implementation Project, user need the access into FSM (Setup and Maintenance). For that, Application Implementation Consultant Role is required to be assigned.

Navigation:

Setup and Maintenance>>Task List>>Manage Implementation Project

Setup and Maintenance

Click on Manage Implementation Projects

Before that we must check how many offerings that we have subscribed. To check that, we need to see the graphical view of offerings in the offerings screen.

Click on Actions>>Go to Offerings

We can see the status as Not enabled, so when we are creating an Implementation Project, we cannot be able to add this offering, only we can add the offerings which we are subscribed/licensed and for that offering’s status will show as Enabled.

Click on done, then select Manage Implementation Projects from the tasks list.

Click on the + Icon to add new project.
Change the details accordingly


Project Manager can assign himself or any authorized person as Assigned To. Change the name accordingly as per the project requirement.

Provide the required details and click on Next in the form
Whatever the offerings are available, it’ll come there to select.
Select the offerings based on the client requirement.

Then click on Save and Open Project. It will take few minutes to save and reopen.

Later we can add additional Offerings/Task lists/Tasks by clicking on the + Icon.
To add Additional Offerings

Also, we can assign the tasks under the offerings to different individuals/resources by clicking on “Assign Tasks “.


Select the User and Apply, Done.

Search for the user and Assign the User to the tasks.

The person who is working on the tasks, they can change the status accordingly by clicking on the “Edit Status.”

Then save and close.
By clicking on the Overview, Manager can be able to know the status of the Project.

Implementation project is using for the reporting purpose. If we are directly doing the tasks from the offerings or global search functionality, it’s hard to rectify that how many tasks are pending, which person is working on which tasks, how many tasks are pending etc. From a manager’s point of view, it’s mandatory to maintain an Implementation project.

Other ways to do the same tasks that we are added in the Implementation Project,

1.???? Directly from the Offerings

From the offerings we can see the required tasks and in the Search Tasks we can search for the required tasks that has to perform. But this search tab in the offering field specifically works for this area only. In case if you don’t know the exact task name then it’s better to go for the Global search functionality and search. Global search will provide the whole tasks available in the complete Fusion environment/instance.

Click on Search

Click on the search to navigate to the global search form.

Search for the required task. Use % in between if you don’t know the complete task name.
