SEAR
In June, we covered the Senior Executive Accountability Regime (SEAR), which took effect on 1 July, 2024 for regulated entities such as banks, insurers and investment firms. It will be extended to other entities in due course.
SEAR mandates that in-scope firms clearly define and allocate responsibilities within their senior management. In this video, Robert Cain , Head of our Financial Regulation Group, reviewed the main changes that SEAR brings. Fully Covered Podcast Series - The impact of IAF/SEAR on Directors and Officers Insurance

In the podcast, Stephen shared insights into the impact of the new regulations on Directors' and Officers' insurance, and offered some guidance as to what firms should do to ensure their D&O insurance remains appropriate.
Data Protection Commission 2023 Annual Report
The Data Protection Commission Ireland (“DPC”) recently released its 2023 Annual Report, revealing another busy year for the authority. Following several cross-border and national inquiries, the DPC issued a number of record fines and corrective orders and by the end of 2023, it had imposed fines totalling €1.55 billion. Our Data Protection, Privacy and Cyber Group summarised the key points from the report here:
