Artfully designed housing to impact addiction recovery campuses
As our society continues to be impacted by the challenges of addiction, it is becoming increasingly important to offer access to safe and comfortable housing for those in recovery. Housing that not only meets their physical needs but also represents a way forward; one filled with warmth, safety and comfort - much like the family home they deserve but are often unable to access or afford. There is something particularly powerful about designing calming living spaces intentionally while considering one's current mental health space as well. That takes on an even more vital role when it comes to creating housing infrastructures for sober living campuses. This type of design provides essential funding streams from governments so that people exiting addiction can find communities where they are embraced and supported during this trying time in their lives. Accessory dwellings provide these individuals with attractive transitional housing which would include both small single-occupancy units as well as two-bedroom apartments within walking distance of local resources such as addiction services organizations, medical care facilities, job training centers and supermarkets all without leaving the secure confines of these purposely built recovery campuses.
