Artemis I Mission

VMC Group is happy to be part of such a magnificent project!

Artemis?I?has officially launched! We would like to shout out all of our engineers that have diligently worked on the NASA projects. VMC Group provided all of the wire rope isolators to be used in the core stage of NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) rocket.?

Over 200 VMC Group and CNC wire rope isolators are on the rocket to minimize shock and vibration impacts to the shelves that will hold the avionics (used for navigation, communication, etc. aka "the brain" of the rocket) in the intertank module of the SLS core stage during liftoff and flight.??

There are three different custom wire rope isolator part numbers that meet rigorous specialty configuration, finish, and testing requirements in support of what is intended to be multiple rocket launches.

Countless hours were put into building the rocket and testing the isolators. VMC Group contracted Tektronix Calibration and Testing Lab in Wayne, NJ to perform all of the rigorous vibration testing of each wire rope isolator that will be installed in the SLS.

Recognizing the lead contractors for Orion, SLS, and EGS that helped make this project a success:

  • Lockheed Martin?for?Orion
  • Aerojet Rocketdyne, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, and?Teledyne Brown?for the?Space Launch System
  • Jacobs?for?Exploration Ground Systems
