Mehdi Hassan is one of today’s leading political commentators. In his new book "Win Every Argument," he teaches readers how to:??

? Avoid rhetorical traps like the "Gish Gallop" - bombarding opponents with too many claims for them to address. This technique will be used frequently in the upcoming election season, so pay close attention to counter it.??

? Stay grounded in facts and avoid personal attacks that derail discussions. Focus on evidence, not speculation.??

? Keep an open mind, yet stand your ground. Listen first to understand others' perspectives before presenting counterarguments.??

? Advance your points logically and methodically, using the right mix of emotion and reason to appeal to different audiences.

? Practice public speaking to build confidence and deliver arguments persuasively.???

Whether debating politics, work issues, or personal beliefs, Mehdi's advice can help you make your case thoughtfully and respectfully that might actually change minds. His strategies will improve your communication, critical thinking, and ability to influence through rational discussion rather than diatribe.??

Something to check out, Guy Kawasaki!

When an argument gets heated, I just let the participants go at it, after expressing all their ideas, complains, frustration or getting tired; I would intervene and ask each one to talk in a come manner and most of the time we reestablish order and a meaningful meeting takes place.

At an evangelical seminary, there was a Christian seminary professor who posed a question to his students regarding their stance on baptism, specifically whether they supported paedobaptism (infant baptism) or credobaptism (baptism upon a public profession of faith by believers). Regardless of their initial response, the professor requested them to compose an apologetic paper advocating the opposing viewpoint. The professor intended to instruct the students in argumentation, debate, logic, and Socratic dialogue, enabling them to strengthen their?convictions by understanding and reasoning the opposing perspective.
