Art Therapy

Art has historically been used as a means of communication, self-expression, group interaction, diagnosis and conflict resolution. For thousands of years, cultures and religions around the world have incorporated the use of painted idols and amulets, as well as sacred drawings and symbols, into the healing process. The emergence of art therapy as a unique and publicly accepted therapeutic approach occurred only recently, in the middle of the 20th century. The emergence of art therapy as a profession grew independently and simultaneously in the United States and Europe.

Art therapy allows people to express feelings about any subject through creative work instead of speaking, it is believed to be especially useful for those who feel they do not understand their emotions or feelings. Individuals who have difficulty discussing or remembering painful experiences may also find art therapy more beneficial. Research has shown that art therapy can improve communication and concentration and help reduce feelings of loneliness. This type of therapy has also been shown to increase self-esteem, self-confidence and self-awareness.

Certified art therapists usually have extensive understanding of the strong impact that the creative process can be present in existing treatment. Artists often use psychological, spiritual and artistic theory with technical ways to achieve the desired result of therapeutics. The disease always brings together with extreme emotions and tact techniques because it works with clay, can provide refuge of these feelings. These activities are also effectively displayed in detecting unexpected material, providing releasing the cathartic and improving the expression of the examination.
