ART AT THE THEATRE
SKT Gallery is delighted to announce the wonderful success of our first physical exhibition Art At The Theatre. ??
The exhibition was an opportunity for artists to display their pieces in an unusual venue – replete with a collection of vintage pianos and cabaret lights – to bring out the drama of their work. At a time when London theatres are still closed, SKT curators were looking to recreate the hushed excitement of going to a see a play.
Ashima Kumar explored the spiritual significance of dance and visual patterns in her painting ‘The Music of Life.’ Polina Chistyakova’s wry self-portrait ‘Jester’ was a bold expression oF artistic playfulness and current fragilities. Xavier Bellante’s multi-layered paintings encouraged viewers to shine UV-lights that theatrically revealed hidden marks and colours. The vivid, dense paintings by Emma-Louise Grady explored the performative and intuitive aspects of mark-making. Gabriel Boccuni’s radically cropped compositions with staring eyes elicited a personal reaction from each onlooker. Bolli Blas’s playful but emotionally-laden re-workings of traditional Western visual theme were penetrating. Charlotte Harker’s delicate drypoint etchings were an exquisite mixture of patience and flair; invention and observation. Alisa Temchenko’s installation ‘Soulmates’ was beautifully evocative of two hearts suspended in synchronisation. ??
SKT Gallery is immensely proud of our short-listed artists, and our team of assistants and technicians who worked hard to make the exhibition possible. We also want to thank the Theatrery for their collaboration and to the musicians who performed during the opening.
SKT aims to create a scattered gallery all over the world and a global community of art-lovers. If you are interested in participated in any future exhibitions, physical or virtual, please contact us on Facebook, Instagram or Linkedin for more information. We won’t stop; art must go on! ?
