The Art of Standing on your Story and not in it.
I was listening to a podcast today in which the guest was telling a story about her anxiety and angst. And how amplified things have become during the past two and half years.
She shared she sometimes has to check the stove (up to three times) to make sure it's off for fear she has forgotten and will burn down her home.
When my mind is full and I am at capacity, I find myself double F and triple-checking the door to make sure it's locked.
As she spoke, I was thinking about stories. The stories we tell ourselves and others about - truth, vulnerability, change, and consequence.
About having the capacity and integrity to share things that cause us angst. But in such a way as to help lift others and say I am standing with you.
YOU are not alone.
True stories touch our hearts and cause a stirring of the soul.
This is the art of standing on your story and not in it.
