The Art of React or Respond

Being in Talent Acquisition, we always have 2 options when we deal with business stake holders and the prospective employees.
At times, we are always tempted to answer hypothetically in order to defend ourselves and the situation force us to do so, during my career spanning over a decade when I am an individual contributor, I tried to justify what i am doing (or) what i have done at time i pulled the leg of our managers when they were not able to deliver what they promised, because I failed to understand what they were going through and this where I have reacted to them.
Fast forward, now being a manager I have few people reporting to me, come's up with the same tantrums that i have played during my early years of career. This is where Karma does it's job.
At this level I have 2 options: React or Respond, being learnt from my past mistakes I choose to respond, I have asked my folks only to do what is there in their hand and leave what is not in their hand, now with the new found mantra the team has started building the teams by not burdening with something which were not in their hands.
Finally : When you react immediately for some thing, it will lead to disaster and if you respond to the same situation and hold your nerves and cards tight, Paramatma will lead you to the next step.
