The Art of Re-Perceiving - an antidote to blindspots.

Every day I tap into good friend Michael Bociurkiw's update on Ukraine. Michael is a Journalist, Global Affairs Analyst, Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council and Author of Digital Pandemic. Apart from his slots on various news channels, he posts daily on Instagram, which gives me very human insight into life on the ground day-to-day.

Michael shared this poster a few days ago, which had a huge impact on me as all of this is happening in the middle of Women's History Month. The translation: “Ukraine: Peaceful but not submissive”.

You can follow Michael on Insta and support his efforts to bring us the story on the ground here.

As this war on Ukraine continues and heightens, I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering what it will take for it to end. The options seem impossible and Putin's purpose, punishing.

One thing I am sure of is that we will all be changed by this in more ways than we realise today. I'm deeply inspired by the humanity in ordinary people who are prepared to go out on a limb for others. A humanity that is rising in our personal and business lives, demanding expression in how we do what we do. I'd love to hear what sort of impact this war is having in your life, in your community and in business?

3 Things to enrich your thinking for the week ahead

The Art of Re-Perceiving

This week I was working with a couple of colleagues in the US and we were looking for a positive way of re-framing blind spots. We were searching for an aspirational term that speaks into what we get when we're able to bring our blind spots into our consciousness and do something about them.

As I got off the zoom, an email dropped into my inbox. It was from Amy Webb, Founder & CEO, The Future Today Institute with their 15th-anniversary Tech Trends Report. The theme for this year is "re-perception", which is the ability to see, hear, or become aware of something new in existing information. The antithesis of a blindspot. Beautiful!

This year's report is made up of 14 individual reports?on all the emerging tech and science trends you need to track this year. You might want to keep this tab open in your browser and dip into it as and when you need a bit of insight on a topic.

"NOTE: The 2022 Tech Trend Report is available in 14 volumes, each covering a different cluster of tech trends. We are making them freely available until April 20th, after which the Summary/ Key Findings and Scenarios will be available at no charge, and the full report and individual reports will be available for a nominal fee."

10 Types of Innovation

I have innovation on my mind! Most of my work in agile thinking and innovation focuses on the people side of things - Leading Innovation, which means I'm tapped into some pretty amazing people who come up with extraordinary things.

These things are almost always a combination of things. In this infographic from Visual Capitalist, they showcase the culmination of years of in-depth research from?Doblin, an innovation-focused firm now owned by Deloitte.

"After examining over 2,000 business innovations throughout history, Doblin uncovered that most breakthroughs don’t necessarily stem from engineering inventions or rare discoveries."

"Instead, they observed that innovations can be categorized within a range of 10 distinct dimensions—and anyone can use the resulting strategic framework to analyze the competition, to stress test for product weaknesses, or to find new opportunities for their products."

This is definitely worth digging into if you're interested in expanding your thinking and re-perceiving all things innovation - and exploring what it looks like in practice.

Each week, the editorial team at the Grey Swan Guild, the action-based global think tank produce The Wrap. This week's lead editors Scott Phares?and?Antonia Nicols?explore Space and Time across the Great, Good, Bad, Ugly and Undecided and it's a thoughtful and inspiring read.

"Since you are part of the all that is, part of its purpose, there is more to you than just this brief speck of existence. You are just a visitor here in this time and this place, a traveler through it."?Gene Roddenberry
