Reading is a great habit and it is progressive to be aware and stay up-to-date about the field you are associated with. Some magazines hold great meaning to some people- for some, it is an inspiration, a motivation and for others, it is just a way to kill time. No matter what your purpose, these magazines somewhere impart insight, and generate ideas. Here are some publications that could be your companion in the long and sometimes self-contained profession of being an Artist.
1. ARTnews
An American visual-arts magazine regarded as the most widely circulated Art Magazine in the world, Art News was founded by James Clarence Hyde in 1902. Following the merger with Art in America, the magazine is currently operating under the chief editorship of Sarah Douglas. The magazine has a readership of approximately 1, 80,000 in 124 countries and is published in print 4 times a year. Among the 45 awards won by ARTnews, some distinguished ones include George Polk Award, The National Magazine Award for General Excellence, The National Headliner Award and The National Arts Club Distinguished Citation for Merit.
2. Art Forum
The monthly contemporary Art magazine Art Forum, was founded in 1962 by John P. Irwin. The magazine has every cover dedicated to the work of one single artist and is acknowledged as a very strong-minded magazine in the field on Art. The magazine features contemporary Art reviews, book reviews, columns on cinema and popular culture, and is notable by its 10 ? inch square presentation.
3. The Art Newspaper
Conceptualised by Umberto Allemandi, The Art Newspaper was initiated in 1990 by Anna Somers Cocks. With support from sister editions, The Art newspapers assists in providing news service about the world of Art in more than 30 countries. With the 100-plus-page monthly print edition, the paper covers updates relating to law, tax, and the political and economic domains of cultural policy.
