Art project: The ”difficult patient”
As part of our ongoing project “What are you complaining about?” – Patients’ critique in care encounters and its potential to improve the quality of care”, Jelmer Brüggeman, Ann-Charlotte Nedlund and I, all based at Link?pings universitet, have since early spring been collaborating with the talented artist Sara-Lovise Ask Ewertson. On the basis of dialogues and discussions about our previous book chapter ‘The “Difficult Patient” – Dominant Logics and Misfits in Medicine’, Sara-Lovise have created a fabulous series of three digital art works. It as been such a valuable and rewarding experience to explain our work and intentions and to then have it interpreted by someone working in a very different genre than our usual academic writing practices. We now hope that the series can serve as an opportunity for critical reflection on how care professionals and patients, together, use their knowledge to enable better care and on the continued time, space, and trust they need to do so.
Are you curious to see what the full series look like? Of course you are!
You’ll find it here https://liu.se/en/research/art-project-the-difficult-patient and for those of you who are in Link?ping on October 5 take the chance to watch them displayed in the main entrance of Link?ping City Library Link?pings Stadsbibliotek as part of Humanistdygnet (https://humanistdygnet.se/event/konst-den-besvarliga-patienten).
