The Art of Pitching

The Art of Pitching

As I sat down to think about the first proper edition of Scale The Hump, I really started thinking what all I should include. The ideas jumped and danced on the pages, and I was a little confused and just wanted to write so much. After a fair bit of thought, I landed on something that I do every single day - Pitching! Be it at work, home or even with friends - we’re constantly pitching new ideas, new things to do and even places to visit. So that’s what today’s newsletter is going to be about - Things To Make Your Pitch Easier??

I wanted to break it down for you - all the things that you can do, to make the process of pitching a lot more easier and a whole lot more effective! ?

  1. Doing Your Research: The biggest thing, while creating your pitch according to me, would be to do your research. Check the company’s social medias, news and even their website along with their founders. This will give you great insight into the tonality, the purpose and even the recent updates about the company. Doing your research gives you the necessary information towards formulating the pitch. The idea with this research is to give you insight into what they’ve been doing, thereby giving more insight into what you can do for them!?
  2. Make it Direct : Most companies and all their departments are often bombarded with decks, emails and messages vying for their attention. One of the ways to stand out, is to make the pitch exceptionally direct and clear. Your email or message should contain 3 things: What you want to do, when you can do it and why you want to do it. Making the pitch direct, saves everyone a lot of time, since it’s very clear about what you can and can’t do for them! I’ve also noticed attaching a cost estimate in the email also makes it very clear about the monetary value you’re looking at. In my experience, the most direct pitches that Ive sent out, has always resulted in extremely good conversions. Thereby, keep it simple & direct. Don’t beat around the bush!?
  3. Leave a clear CTA: This is towards the end of the pitch- you’ve made it, you’ve shared your ideas and the ball is in their court? Leave a very clear CTA. The company you’re making the pitch to, should know what you’re expecting them to do - ask them for a call on a particular day. A day to follow up, or even when you can share more details. In my experience ending the pitch with a clear CTA really makes it easy for everyone involved to take next steps.?

These are just a few ideas from my end to make the process of pitching slightly easier?and less complicated for you!?

Do let me know some of your best tips and tricks when it comes to pitching and what it really takes to seal the deal!?
