Let's talk about selling. We're always selling something - our ideas, proposals, and vision for the future. The realm of sales isn't as dark and as mysterious as perhaps you may have been led to believe. Sales have one very simple concept, and yes that includes copywriting as well as content writing.
Conversation.
In order to sell something, we need to have a discussion or some form of dialogue. For instance, right now, you're reading my blog entry and you're probably debating in your head whether I'm right or wrong.?If you should invest more time into my blog. And when shopping, we talk with sales advisors - and those sales advisors are there trying to get you to perform an action. Usually that means buying.
In luxury retail, selling is different. Here are three things to know:
The sales advisor wants to sell, but the customer may not want to buy.
In a luxury store, the sales advisor's goal is to make a sale. But as a customer, you may just be browsing or seeking inspiration. A good sales advisor will help you without being too aggressive.

Luxury retail is all about relationships. Sales advisors take time to know the customer's needs and preferences to give personalized recommendations. A great advisor makes the customer feel valued, listened to, and welcomed.
Overcoming resistance is part of the job.
In luxury retail, big-ticket items require a significant investment, and objections may arise. Sales advisors must be skilled at building trust by educating the customer about the product or providing social proof, without being pushy.
Whether selling luxury goods or persuading friends to see a movie, the principles of selling are the same: listen to your customer, build a relationship, and be persistent (but not pushy). I'm hoping this blog was either something new to you or a good reminder about the importance of dialogue within the sales sphere.
