Art and NFTs: A Subjective Contrarian Relationship Between the Aesthetics And Money Making (?? vs. ??)

Art is NOT as boring as some people try to proclaim after exiting the door of a museum they recently visited.

No museum or art gallery visit can be dull, unless you intended to only walk-in, quickly move around the corridors and then leave without paying attention to what you have seen.

For me, though, art is an integral and important part of my life?

It characterizes me as a person and those who know me can verify what I say.

Van Gogh rocks

When I was younger I was drawing and sketching a lot, and actually - I will try to not brag here - I continue being quite good at it?

Still, till today I have this genuine interest in art and the creative expression that we people endeavour to have through it.

Either that can be through dancing, drawing, playing music or any other form of art.

These forms of artistic expression are undoubtedly a beautiful way to "show without saying", to let your inner soul illustrate to the outer world what is hidden in it.

??But let's get bring NFT art to the game, the focus of this article:

So, I wonder if I wanted to purchase or mint NFT artwork, where do I really start from?

And how will I, as a novice NFT collector, can make the most out of it?

I know when I see a piece of art that I like it... It certainly has this feeling of happiness or nostalgia most of the times...

Or it has something futuristic and post-modern that you can only find in Centre Pompidou in the mesmerizing city of Paris.

It took me sometime to realize that NFTs and their underlying promise is to make us feel children again. Even if that means that we are going to stick it to our friends for having the newest mutable/evolvable version of a BAYC or a Yokai Mask.

It's like having rare baseball, football or car cards with specs that make them unique and desirable by other collectors.

Do you remember those cards?

Most of you, I am sure you do?

This sense of "holding" in your wallet something fairly unprecedented nowadays in the age of the digital art renaissance is unequivocally spectacular as a phenomenon.

The question that pertains in my mind is:

Are we heading to a "Renaissance 2.0"?

A renaissance that has its foundations on new artists that now are given the opportunity to show their work widely and get the recognition they always yearned for?

#NewWaveart maybe?

This could be the hashtag that characterizes what we see now in Web 3.0, a new wave of art which besides the noise created by all those animal NFT-collections (saturated market...please stop doing it) can also provide utility and NFT-gated access to new services in the space.

I, for once, am shocked by the artwork being NFTed (if that's a word), as I have the mere feeling that the NFT space has given digital artists and creators a medium of exchanging their artwork, having it (subjectively) evaluated, and being rewarded by retail investors.

And imagine that most of those artists and creators were very shy to show their artwork at the beginning, but now the tide seems to be changing direction, and I am very happy about it.

The community surrounding an NFT project can make a hell of a difference, mainly by giving the confidence and courage to unknown - "underground" artists we could say - to come out of the shadows and make our (digital) world way more colourful and wonderful.

I have to dig deeper and find some nice gems, not just because of the money making potential, but...

Just because of the ART????? and the consequent future utility potential.

But maybe, I am too of an idealist... who knows?

And that's it for this article, my Web 3.0 peeps.

Question(s) for you:

Which are the main drivers that make you choose to be part of an NFT community and which features are the most important ones for you?
