The art of micro-retreats: Finding moments to immerse in nature.

In the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and constantly chased.

We all yearn for that elusive “me time,” a chance to hit the pause button on life’s demands. If you’re nodding along, fear not!

Now I’ve often heard friends talk about the benefits of regular meditation to get respite and clarity, but I can’t profess to have ever really practiced it like they do.

However, in my wanderings I have recently stumbled upon a simple and effective practice that might also work for you – and best of all its easy and very doable.

Picture this: a tranquil spot in your favourite park, the sun casting its warm glow. Take a seat, or better still lie on a nice patch of grass for just five minutes. It’s not a vacation; it’s a nature pitstop, a brief interlude that can work wonders for your wellbeing.

Why do this, you might wonder? Well, the secret lies in the fact that a short sojourn in nature is restorative and reenergising for your mind, body and soul.

And the best part? We can all find 5 minutes in a day, anywhere – a local park, a quiet spot in the nearby bushland, or with your partner or furry friend in tow.

Now, you might be thinking, “But what about those times when I’m not out exploring a park?” Well, the best part is nature’s rejuvenating benefits can be found even in the heart of the city. So, find a spot and get your regular nature fix!

There are beautiful places to be found in the hearts of our biggest cities.

The essence of this practice is simple: take a little time out, be present, breathe in the moment, and let nature work its magic. It’s a simple way to be in the moment, hear our surroundings, feel the sun on your face, and soak up the benefits of nature and the outdoors.

And now, a touch of humour to cap off our nature tip: if you’re planning to try this rejuvenating ground-level activity– pick a discreet spot. Why, you might ask?

Well, let’s just say, the sight of someone lying motionless on a grassy spot might cause a few double-takes. And of course, when picking your spot look out for ants, or the like!

So, there you have it, a practical way to incorporate bite-sized moments of tranquillity into your daily routine.

Nature awaits, and your wellbeing will thank you for it!
