The Art of Marketing a Penny

A year ago I proposed working for "The Penny Hoarder" a local rapidly growing marketing firm. The job I proposed was "LinkedIn Captain" for The Penny Hoarder.

Why did I propose this? If you do not see a job listed on their website you had the opportunity to propose one. So I did. After a quick review of all their social media and their online activity I concluded that LinkedIn was an under developed area.

At the time The Penny Hoarder had 1,015 LinkedIn followers and I personally had 1,484. Since I brought this to their attention and obviously they have made increasing that number a priority. As of today 5/30/2018 The Penny Hoarder now has 2,931 LinkedIn connections and I have 2,084 with 2,153 LinkedIn followers. The Penny Hoarder presently employs 49 people mostly marketing, sales and tech.

Below is part of my proposal.

PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY

 Meet Barbra a St. Petersburg native and a thrifty person extraordinaire. My family went through “The Great Depression” so I know the value of a penny earned. “It makes no sense to hire brilliant people and then tell them what to do. We hire brilliant people and ask them what to do.” (Steve Jobs) 

I am a Petersburger, born and raised in St. Petersburg, FL.  I am also, a person that speaks to city council members and the homeless in the same day with the same respect. 

 WORK HARD/PLAY HARD: I actually enjoy working. Then again if you are doing something you enjoy it may not seem like work. Few ever get to do what they love for a living but it could happen.

 My Dream Job:

I am a dreamer but in a good way. You can’t put a square peg in a round hole so why do we try? I love doing brain storming. I am passionate about connecting people and I love networking. I checked out your LinkedIn page for The Penny Hoarder presently at 1,015 followers. Not bad, I have 1,484 followers on my personal page and I am not even trying. I am however, making good progress on the LinkedIn page for Women’s Global Leadership Initiative www.WGLI.org which presently has 12,675 followers.

 My Dream Job? I would like to manage your LinkedIn page and then spread out into other areas of the organization. What is important to you is your bottom line and what is important to me is finding a company with growth potential and where my talents would be appreciated.  

 Your ability to put more money in our reader’s pockets is something everyone wants! One of my gifts is my ability to effectively align customers with products in a timely and professional manner. Through LinkedIn and other media I will make you money.

 Developing and managing a pipeline of prospects with ease and finding solutions to needs comes naturally to me. I also, have strong analytical skills with the ability to effectively understand clients marketing goals and develop results.  I did not get the position. I do however, admire how this bootstrap company has grown since being founded in 2010.
