Did you ever feel that at some point you got extra sensitive towards something silly, or over reacted or couldn’t make an easy decision?

You reach this point when you get overwhelmed with lots of small or big situations, emotions or people over a long period of time.

You might even decide that you are no longer going to let what affects you have that effect on you anymore, but you just can’t seem to stop caring!

Here comes the art of letting go, where you need to put yourself in a state of mind that allows you to not hold on to whatever annoys you, whether it is work related or it is in your simple everyday life, and take back the control on your emotions, decisions and reactions.

The art of letting go, in its simplest description is how to relax and move on, with no strings attached.

It can be applied to many things, habits, past memories, dreams, triggering situations, people, etc. and its effect can go from the simple act of being happy to improving your health.

You can reach that state of mind in many steps, I will share with you what worked for me.

Let’s refer to whatever you are holding on to as a” Cake”.

-         First step to getting rid of it is acknowledging the cake, think about it, write it, and discuss it with someone, whatever it takes to wrap your head around it. You really need to understand why this Cake affects you and how.

-         Next Step is know what makes you happy, trips, music, exercise, and keep your mind focused there. Focused on your happy place, happy you, healthy you, count down your blessings.

-         Once you do that you come to the important part, here you can clearly see how this cake is taking something positive from you, and add to the negative.

-         On the fourth step ask yourself these questions: is it worth it? Will stressing it will solve it? Will getting upset help you in anything? Is it anyone else’s lose but you? Are you becoming a moving ball of stress? Are you happy?

-         Fifth: now you are all aware of it, mentally and emotionally. Now start moving it, the cake, and how you see it, look at it in a different point of view (at bird’s eye view I prefer), and shift your negative thoughts, stress, tension to positive thoughts.

-         Last step is whenever you go through it just stop! Don’t let it absorb you, keep a distance and repeat the questions you will find it getting easier to let go by time.?

Once you do that you will be ready to go through it without even a glitch.

This is just something I went through and though it might be helpful to someone going through the same thing!

“If you’re brave enough to say goodbye, life will reward you with a new hello.”
—Paulo Coelho
