The Art of La Passeggiata
Posted by Kalika Yap an hour ago
Hello Boss!
One of the most pivotal moments in life was meeting one of my best friends and college roommate Rossella Ceruti who landed at NYU from Bergamo, Italy.
This incredibly smart, driven, ambitious young woman was the epitome of achievement — yet she found time to savor conversations and connections and linger over limonata and linguine.
Rossella embodied the hustle of a New Yorker and kept the heart of an Italian by practicing the art of la passeggiata.
As the late afternoon passed into the early evening we’d take relaxed strolls la passeggiata from Washington Square Park to Union Square, Soho to Battery Park City.
Each walk weaved ourselves through the fabric of the city.
Each step passo reinforced a sense of belonging, a sense of community and a sense of confident joy.
What are some of the traditions that allow you to foster a sense of belonging?
When was the last time you took a gentle evening stroll with friends and connected with the soul of your city?
Drop your playlists and podcasts. Take to the streets as the Italians do.
Where will your next la passeggiata take you?
XO
Kalika
No one belongs here more than you.

5 年Yes, Kalika Yap, yes! I took a chance and starting chatting with a close by neighbor a few months ago and now we do a 90 min hike in our beautifully scenic neighborhood together at least once a week, chatting the whole time about life, love, loss, spirituality, business, goals, all things I love, love, love to chat about as you know. Turns out she is actually a spiritual teacher and writer and Ph.D. and networking expert among many other fascinating things and is good friends with many of the authors I have read and adored. I often think of all that I would have lost out on if I hadn't made that first uncomfortable gesture to chat when we bumped into each other outside our homes. Thank you for reminding us all of this! ??
