Dean and I talking about his career journey - from footballer to tech CEO

At the end of last year, I had the immense pleasure of interviewing Dean Forbes to discuss his hugely inspiring life/career journey - from periods of homelessness as a teen to becoming a massively successful tech CEO with over 2 BILLION Euros worth of exits under his belt (last one alone was sold for 1 BILLION)

The episode is out now and includes not only his life story but the many lessons he has learned about culture, leadership, grit and negotiation in his two decades-long career in tech.

Shirley Chisholm, 1972

Oscar-nominated filmmaker Immy Humes highlights 100 photographs in which only one woman appears amid a group of men—she’s often shunted aside, or nearly cropped out altogether. These are the images and backstories of figures from politicians like Shirley Chisholm to artists such as Frida Kahlo, as well as a number of unknowns, who defiantly left their mark in a man’s world.

This book is, essentially, a study of power, as seen in 100 photographs of groups of men—artists, workers, musicians, dentists, lawyers—with only a single woman. Spanning more than a century and a half, from 1862 to 2020, the snapshots were taken in 20 countries.

This is a fascinating look at the seeming outliers - women who found their place in power, despite the adversity they faced trying to fit into what was very much a man's world.

Break Point is a new Netflix docuseries which follows a diverse group of tennis players on and off the court as they compete in gruelling slams with hopes of winning a final, and with even grander dreams of becoming the world number one. Break Point gets up close and personal with top up and coming players on the tennis circuit through an entire year travelling across the globe for all four Grand Slams and the ATP and WTA tours.

A fascinating watch into how and why elite athletes and successful founders are more alike than most might think.
