The Art of Imperfection

The art of imperfection, for so long, I believed in the phrase "practice makes perfect". It was an interaction with a wise 9- year old boy who said, "No that's not true practice makes progress"
These are words, I carry with me daily. It also coupled with a teaching that I learned from Stef Sifandos, to move with intention and preference towards the goal, Not an expectation tied to the outcome.
For me shifting into this space has allowed me to be a better father, to nurture my boy's passions and allow them to enjoy the experience. Its about the journey. Blake is a competitive beast and its all about the outcome for him. Its an evolution of growth for him. Riley extended himself in the pool with an expectation of I'll do my best and a preference to make it into the A squad, He hit his goal. I was so proud. Proud of the effort and focus. It was only on the morning that he decided to try out. This experience has opened his eyes to the possibility that life will provide if we only try.....
For me personally, I have found a capacity to move my body and exercise in ways that I had tied to the term, I can't....it was a lie.I now use the term what have I tried to get there. When I'm feeling challenged in all area's of life.
Which brings me back to the original learning, Practice makes progress.
