An Art Benefit for African Arts Organizations
I'd like to explain why we are doing the benefit Art For Africa.
Ever since we started the gallery, we have been doing what we can to introduce artists previously unknown in Japan to our friends and clients in Japan. This includes many artists from Indonesia, China, and Vietnam.
After two trips to Africa, we have also begun introducing the work of African artists here. We did this before the current boom of interest in African artists. We do this because we love the work they do and we love their generosity and compassion for their work.
One of the artists, Agness Buya Yombwe in Zambia known to our clients as the "Taboo artist" for her Taboo paintings, and her husband Lawrence are the most generous and creative people you would ever meet.
They mentor younger artists and teach young children and help unwed mothers with their classes and their studio. Now, they are expanding their studio and their activities and that is why we are running this Art for Africa Benefit for them and also for Kuru Art Project.
Here is an update on their project You will be impressed.
