The Art Of Being Selfish!

The Art Of Being Selfish!

“It’s not about you, it’s about them.”.....“It’s not about them, it’s about you.”?

It’s technically about both.

But don’t get confused.?

I want you to be selfish now to be selfless later.

Master the art of being selfish first.

Why??

Well, that’s how the best results are produced. Just see how most winners spend their time...Selfishly!

The more selfish you are, the better for others you’ll be.

Personally, I am selfish with my time. Besides family interactions, I spend most days alone.

I have fully embraced it, and wouldn’t have it any other way.

Personal Branding is about mastering the art of being selfish. This means:

1. Setting selfish goals.

2. Being critiqued and unfollowed.

3. Having “NO” as your default response.

1. Setting selfish goals

Everyone talks about value to others, solving problems and being selfless.

Not many are talking about their selfish goals.

That’s why I’m writing this.

My motto is selfish “Brand Yourself To Freedom”

My brand goal translates to:

1. Location Freedom

I am to have the ability to work from wherever I want in the world.

2. Financial Freedom

I am not to be limited by one salary as I build more streams of income.

3. Time Freedom

I am not be constrained by certain hours, days or weeks of work every year.

4. Opinion Freedom

I am to be taken seriously when sharing own opinions, without hurting my brand.

5. Brand Freedom

I am to always have the ability to change the brand direction, and rebrand if needed.

Personal selfish goals mean a lot more to me than fairytale Insta quotes.

Without my selfish goals, I am doing a disservice to others.

2. Being critiqued and unfollowed

Please everyone, and you’ll please no one.

In the early days, I was that newbie who’s obsessed with the follower count.

Now, I’m selfish to the point that I smile every time I get unfollowed.

I see it differently now.

If someone unfollows me, they either:

  • Believe in cancel culture, and due to one disagreement decided I’m not worthy of their attention.
  • Simply don’t find my content interesting to them.

In both cases, they were not going to engage or buy from me in the future.?

So being unfollowed is a win-win for us.

They can find other interesting content that fits their needs.

And I become more focused in sharing my truth to my audience.

3. Having "NO" as your default response

Truth is: You don’t need more time, you need better focus.

Everyone is fighting for your attention.

Family, friends, marketers, businesses, salesmen..You name it.

When I started 3 years ago, I was saying yes to everything thinking that’s the right way.

Now I’m the exact opposite.?

Since I’m monetising my 2-year knowledge gap, I’m 100% focused on “figuring it out” on my own.

In essence, I’m saying no more often, until I can say yes more often.

NO to social gatherings.?

NO to vague opportunities.

NO to pointless meetings.

If it’s not a hell yes, it’s a hell NO!

Yes...I am selfish.

Master the art of being selfish, and thank me later.

Which selfish act would you add to this? Let me know below??

Love this. My motto is full circle “we cannot be our best for others if we are not our best for ourselves.” I even wrote a little book about it titled SELF-ISH is the new SELFLESS ??
