Art Basel Miami: 6 – 8 Dec. 2024: New Directions Under the Leadership of Bridget Finn
THE Stylemate
Inspiration from around the world for an aesthetic and meaningful lifestyle
Art Basel Miami Beach returns in 2024 with fresh energy and an expanded program. For the first time under the leadership of Bridget Finn, the fair will take place from December 6-8 at the Miami Beach Convention Center, with VIP preview days on December 4 and 5. This edition marks the largest influx of new exhibitors since 2008 and reflects the fair’s commitment to supporting both new and established galleries and artists .
Diverse Exhibitors: Record Number of New Participants
With 286 leading galleries from 38 countries and regions, Art Basel Miami Beach 2024 will showcase an impressive range of contemporary art . Nearly two-thirds of the participating galleries hail from North and South America, underscoring the fair’s role as a key platform for artists from the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, and other Latin American countries. This focus aligns with the fair’s mission to highlight artistic diversity and innovative practices from the region.
Especially exciting is the participation of 34 galleries making their debut at the fair. This new dynamic is supported by a recently introduced entry-level booth option designed to facilitate access for small and mid-size galleries.
New Sectors and Curatorial Highlights
Die Art Basel Miami 2024 will be divided into several exhibition categories, including the main sector, “Galleries,” where exhibitors present their full range of artworks, and “Nova,” which highlights pieces created in the past three years. The “Positions” and “Survey” sectors will focus on solo presentations by emerging artists and historically significant works created before 2000, respectively.

A particular highlight is the “Meridians” section, which showcases large-scale artworks and installations. This year, it will be curated for the first time by independent curator Yasmil Raymond, who takes over from Magalí Arriola. The section offers a platform for works that transcend traditional art fair formats, delivering grand visual experiences.
A New Era for Art Basel Miami Beach
With Bridget Finn as the new director, there is a stronger emphasis on creating more opportunities for smaller and mid-sized galleries. Thanks to a sliding-scale pricing model, which has been in place at all Art Basel fairs globally since 2019, smaller booths come with reduced costs, ensuring more equity for exhibitors. This has led to 30 galleries entering the main sector for the first time, including participants from the U.S., South America, Europe, Asia, and even Africa.
Looking Ahead to the Future of Art Basel Miami Beach
Art Basel Miami Beach 2024 is set to be another standout event for the international art world . With a significantly expanded roster of participants, new curatorial concepts, and enhanced support for smaller galleries, the fair is shaping the future of contemporary art. Art lovers can look forward to a week filled with extraordinary exhibitions, events, and artistic discoveries in the vibrant city of Miami.
