Art is the Axe for the Frozen Sea Within Us

Art is the Axe for the Frozen Sea Within Us

Sitting at my desk, staring at the blinking cursor, I felt a sense of restlessness creeping in. To break free from the monotony, I reached for my AirPods and tuned into the soulful tunes of Leonard Cohen. As the music began, I closed my eyes, letting the melodies wash over me. In that instant, a wave of calmness enveloped me, offering respite from the chaos of the day. I delved further into music, exploring Tom Waits and Ali Saifuddin. Each song became a companion on my journey, evoking a myriad of emotions that mirrored the complexities of life.

Later that day, I watched Poor Things starring Emma Stone on my laptop. It was a haunting and powerful experience. The film's stark portrayal of human frailty and moral decay served as a haunting reminder of the darkness that lurks within us all. Emma Stone's acting was amazing and kept me hooked the whole time, leaving a profound impact that lingered in my thoughts long after the movie ended.

As I got into bed, still thinking about the movie, I picked up Marcus Aurelius' Meditations. His words felt calming, like a gentle song, leading me to sleep. As I drifted off, his wisdom stayed with me, bringing comfort in the quiet night.

In the quiet pauses of my everyday routine, amidst the familiar tasks and ordinary moments, I find solace in the gentle pleasures that art brings. It's during these unassuming times that I truly appreciate the profound influence of artistic expression on my life.

Art is everywhere, shaping our lives in profound ways. It transcends mere entertainment; it helps us find meaning and connections in the smallest of things. It makes us feel less alone. Is your heart broken? Watch Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Craving something surreal? Explore artists like Salvador Dalí, Yayoi Kusama, or René Magritte. Need a good laugh? Hera Pheri awaits you. Searching for intense psychological introspection? Turn to Dostoevsky. Seeking focus while working? Just listen to Hans Zimmer's Man of Steel Suite. Whether it's a beautiful melody, a captivating painting, or a thought-provoking film, art speaks to us on a profound level. In these simple moments, we see how art can uplift us, inspire us, and add richness to our lives.

Recognizing this, I felt compelled to write a poem, Whispers for the Heart, a simple tribute to the beauty of art in all its forms.

When hope lights your soul,

Or despair pulls you behind,

Find art.

When excitement fills your veins,

Or anxiety grips your spine,

Find art.

When gratitude fills your being,

Or resentment fades behind,

Find art.

When euphoria fills the air,

Or melancholy brings a bind,

Find art.

When trust guides your way,

Or betrayal leaves you blind,

Find art.

When calmness soothes your soul,

Or anguish is unkind,

Find art.

When truth meets acceptance,

Or denial's grip unwinds,

Find art.

With fulfillment near,

Or longing left behind,

Find art.

When emotions surge, find art.

When you can't find art, make art.

In sharing these reflections, I don't claim to possess profound insights; we are all sentenced to solitary confinement inside our own skins. Instead, I invite you to embrace the complexity of everyday moments. Let's embrace life's complexity. In struggles and triumphs, we discover what it truly means to be alive. Amid life's chaos, find solace in the transformative power of art, revealing beauty in the ordinary.
