Art as/and public service

Art as/and public service

What does art and public service in government have in common? Well, every now and then I'll write a poem at my desk between conflicts as a way to help my mediator mind find balance. And that's just what Ben Gannon likes about his work at King County and his art work--together they support and inform who he is as an artist, and how his art engages with the challenges and beauty of his community.  Read his story and experience his artwork at the Tacoma Art Museum.

If you have a personal story of public service you'd like to share on the site, contact me. And I hope you can join us at Expanding the Narrative: Personal stories of government and public service on Tuesday May 24th in Seattle.
