Around-the-Clock Support: DWIHN Mobile Crisis Services Now Available 24/7

The Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network (DWIHN) has taken a significant step in ensuring that help is always within reach for individuals in crisis across Detroit and Wayne County. As of August 27, 2024, DWIHN's Mobile Crisis Services are now available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. This expansion ensures that people facing a crisis can receive immediate support, no matter the time of day.

Immediate, Community-Based Intervention

"We are pleased to have a full complement of clinicians and peers dedicated to crisis calls," said Manny Singla, Interim President and CEO of DWIHN. "Offering immediate community-based intervention and resources helps reduce or prevent the need for care in a more restrictive setting." This service allows trained professionals to meet individuals where they are, offering de-escalation, crisis intervention, and connections to appropriate behavioral health providers.

A Gradual Expansion for Quality Service

Since its launch in December 2023, DWIHN's Mobile Crisis teams have responded to nearly 650 calls. The program's phased expansion ensured that each step improved the quality of service provided. The mobile units, staffed by a master's level clinician and a peer support specialist, are equipped to handle crises for children and adults, guiding them toward the care they need.

Accessibility for All

With the introduction of the new mobile crisis hotline, 844-IN-CRISIS (844-462-7474), DWIHN has made it even easier for anyone in the Wayne County area to access these life-saving services. "Calling this number will get you, a family member, or a loved one connected to a mental health professional to get the help needed right away and get a mobile crisis unit to your location more efficiently," Singla emphasized.

DWIHN's Access to Care 24/7 Helpline at 800-241-4949 remains the primary contact for those seeking behavioral healthcare services. However, if the situation requires immediate crisis intervention, callers will be routed to the 844-IN-CRISIS dispatch to receive prompt, direct care.
