Around the Bases 9/28
Welcome back! The month just flew by for me as I recover from the summer ending (why o why?) and reset my calendar for earlier sunsets and all of the other things that come with the fall. Huge jump in the community here in the last week, maybe one of the biggest ones ever- maybe 1000 subscribers isn't such a crazy idea after all. As always, thanks to everyone here for stopping by each week and spreading the word about the newsletter, it means so much you have no idea.
Just wrapped the first episode of the 45th season of Survivor- a favorite of mine since season 1. Watch the old episodes for a few laughs and see how they played then- you won't believe it! That got me thinking- the show's slogan "Outwit, Outplay, and Outlast" has been around forever, yet the strategies of the players has changed a TON. The gameplay has evolved over the years- and the lesson it leaves is how you may have to change your strategy from time to time to get something going. I went through it myself a while back searching the job market for my next role- I hadn't looked for over 25 years, when postage stamps, word processors and getting the "good" paper and envelopes was a MUST for any job search (did I forget landline phone calls?). So ask yourself "how am I playing this game?" and see what different ways you can go about playing it?
This week's Something to Watch comes from the creative producers at Oregon who put together this cinematic recap of their win over Colorado last weekend. Amazing stuff from a their group, who has a colleague of mine as a part of it. Scott Anderson spent some time in North Dakota before taking his immense talents to Eugene. More evidence of "you never know" what might happen if you follow your passion.
This week's Something to Read is from Will Guidara - a best-seller that has helped a ton of people unlock the "secrets" of overdelivering and what that can do for you and your teams, regardless of the industry you are in.
This week's Something to Listen To is a great episode from a podcast called "Untangle". Tons of great episodes, I had a hard time choosing one, but this was the winner.
Here are the Top 10 roles I saw this week. Our group at CBS Sports digital has a lot to offer between CBS Sports HQ (video, graphics producer- PA and AP) and the Golazo Network. The first post is just one of their roles, but there are a TON more. Please DM me here or email me at tom@stormers15media for more, as I can get you directly to the people hiring for us, and I may have a pathway into the non-CBS roles below.

As the fall gets cranked up, the fun time of year for so many of us is finally here- performance reviews before the end of the fiscal year (ha ha)! If you need a strategy on how to deal with the conversation (I know I did), I might be able to help. I know I have some coaching tips on how to recognize and explain your value to others. I have a number of other services to either help you search for your next role, or make the most out of the role you currently have. My experience in the sports media world working with hundreds of people along the way makes me a unique ally for anyone looking for some assistance. Resume production, cover letter editing, resume reel reviews (for behind or in front of the camera), you name it. My passion to teach and positive energy might be just the trick. Please check out my website below and see how we may be able to help each other.
Thanks again for your time here and telling others about what is going on here. A quick shout to the community members here who are starting something new (you know who you are!). Have a great weekend!
