Around the Bases 9/1
Welcome back for another edition, I hope everyone's August ended well as we ramp up for the fall. Plenty of opportunities out there with the NFL and college football seasons getting underway, and the NBA and NHL aren't far behind. For the freelancers- the PGA season has just concluded, but they are already looking ahead to the upcoming season to staff out the roles they need for their live broadcasts.
New beginnings are often afoot as the fall approaches. We have one in our world as my daughter started her college journey last week. The move brought a truckload of emotions out, and what helped me sort through all of them is the excitement I have for her with the world of possibilities that are waiting ahead. As we all search for our ultimate goal, remember that a new start isn't reserved for incoming freshmen. There is a lot out there if you choose to open yourself up to what might come. It requires a lot of energy, but there is value in spending the energy to explore the things that may interest you. Burying yourself in your work is great if that is what you want, but carve out some time now and then to see if what you are up to is filling up the buckets you have in your life.
This week's Something to Watch is a great feature produced by an ex-colleague of mine, Jon Fish, about the origins of the sport of Pickleball. Great storytelling and visuals. Creatives, take a few notes...
This week's Something to Read is a book that has had a lot of impact in the self-help space that might just be the spark some of you out there are looking for.
This week's Something to Listen To comes from a podcast I just discovered from Dr. Andrew Huberman. Lots of great episodes, I thought this one as really cool.
As always, here are the Top 10 opportunities I saw this week. A nice array with one in front of the camera role for those interested. I have connections at a few of the places listed, so DM me here or email me at [email protected] to find out more. There are a few readers who have reached out to me and had some success making some new connections this way the last few weeks, which has been great to see!

Looks like a very cool role here with GQ!
Like I said before, the NBA is ramping up- Bally has an opening to oversee the Hawks and their other properties in Atlanta.
I hope the week ahead has a lot of positive vibes for everyone. Your patronage here means a lot- any word of mouth that any of you can generate would be appreciated. I have been getting some great energy from this, and I can't believe what was a small idea in May has grown so much so quickly. I am ideating a video presentation for this as well for YouTube, so keep an eye out! Gotta give a quick shout out to a loyal reader (you know who you are!) who has just landed a role at the YES network as an AP!
If you or anyone you now needs some career clarity, or some coaching on their role either behind or in front of the camera, please DM me here or email me at [email protected] to see how we can help each other out. The consultation call is FREE, the return on the investment in yourself could help you for the rest of your career. Here's to new beginnings! See you next week.
