Around the Bases 8/8
Welcome back! Thanks for your time as always, it means so much. Lots going on all over the place with the fall sports closing in on us at breakneck speed, once things get done in Paris, kickoff will be right around the corner. I have also seen a few posts lately from the late fall and winter sports as well, so dial up our curiosity and see what might be out there for you.
Trying something new at your current place of employment is a strategy I am always preaching to clients and co-workers when they have reached a plateau in their development. I have seen (and experienced) more than my share of colleagues who have hit a wall and don't know where to pivot to next. Well, I took up own advice and am diving into an area I have not as of now and really getting something out of the experience. I am also seeing some of our team doing the same, and hopefully getting a similar rise out of taking a step into an unfamiliar area in order to spark some career growth. The Lesson? Use the knowledge you already have about the role you have, and explore something you think your skill set can contribute to that can have an impact on your team. Not easy for sure, but very worth trying out.
Staying on the theme of not being afraid to try something new, this week's Something to Watch comes from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Graham Weaver delivers on this topic in this great talk. Lots of other content to choose from on SGSB's YouTube channel.
Trouble advocating for yourself at work (yes!)? This week's Something to Read will help you out. Jessica Chen offers some great advice and strategy here to assist with something so many struggle with.
Inspiration can come in a number of ways- this week's Something to Listen To comes from a great podcast from John O'Leary - Live Inspired. John is a great follow, written some amazing books, and the pod has a lot of great guests. This episode features Jodi Wellman , another great follow about how to kick start yourself and get your life going with no regrets.
Here are the Top 10 roles I saw this week (so much out there, very tough to choose), with the first 5 coming from our team at CBS Sports/Paramount. Things are moving to get ready for the fall, especially with the crew in Florida. I can get you into the process quickly with those roles and may have a way or 2 into the others posted below. Please DM me here or email me at [email protected] for more info.

3 years ago, soon after a short period of time after my career path was altered, I was looking for a path to follow that suited what I felt I was really good at other than the TV production skills I learned along the way over the years I was there. Helping others improve and guiding them in whatever ways they needed was something I crafted on my own and was a bit of a calling card as my producing career developed. Thanks to the advice of some unreal people (the trio of my sister Emily Roche Bryn Z. Johnson and Valerie Gordon ) I went out and formed my own company Stormers15 Media Group to continue that path of helping others. 3 years later, I have had the pleasure of working with lots of great people some I knew, some I didn't) and produced this newsletter along the way. Resumes, demo reels, and dispensing career advice were just some of the things I have done since then. I wasn't sure about my ability in this area when I started, but shortly after a few clients, it kicked in. I can do this, and I have a lot more ahead in this area. To those who have supported me, taken the plunge into working together, and have become loyal readers here, I can't thank you enough. For those curious about looking into what working together may lead to, please feel free to check out my website below and set up a free consultation. I have, and I know I can help. I'm looking forward to some new experiences in year 4 and making some connections with some of your. DM me here or email me at [email protected] and see where we go from here.
Thanks again for your time here- wishing you all a great weekend. See you next week!
