Around the Bases 8/11

Thanks for checking another edition here- I hope everyone's summer is going well. Opportunities are out there as lots of places are ramping things up a shade as the fall approaches, so keep your eyes open- you never know what might be out there.

I reconnected with a few folks this week during a my networking spree which gave me a nice shot of energy. I wanted to take a sec and say that if you are on your search- remember to reach out to as many people as you can- your efforts will get things going in the right direction. You never know what might pop up and how someone you never thought could help you just might be able to. I've had the chance over the past week to help a few old colleagues (helping others was a staple of mine at both ESPN and NBC Sports, and will continue to be on whatever path I am walking), and its also great to reach out and help when and where you can.

That being said, this week's Something to Watch is a neat look at an age old battle - courage vs confidence. Lots of opinions here, and this one from design legend Debbie Millman is worth a look, whether you agree or not.

This week's Something to Read comes from Valerie Gordon, someone who has been a huge help to me over the last year plus. A great article here about some great steps to take if you have been recently laid off, or like many of us, still looking for that next opportunity.

This week's Something to Listen To comes from the great team at Spotify/The Ringer. I was fortunate enough to work with Rece Davis on a couple of projects back in the day, and can attest he's one of the best in the business and this podcast with Bryan Curtis is worth your time.
