Around the Bases 8/10
Apologies for the late publish- welcome back to all of the regulars and an extra thanks to those here for the first time. August is well underway and there I have seen a lot going on in our industry with the fall sports ramping up. College and pre teams are in full swing- if you need a website that has a great path to some of these roles, try here:
I saw some great stuff this week from a few of colleagues of mine (1 current and 2 from the recent past) who have leapt into the world of producing and it is so great to see. The first 2 I saw develop from new PAs a few years ago, and the first just wrapped his first ever shift producing the show he once cut highlight for when he started, Sportscenter, and the other is producing a 4 hour NFL Fantasy Draft show. Last but not least, another is a current teammate at CBS who just produced his second show involving a baseball no-hitter, and is improving with every shift he gets in the chair up front. Just wanted to share a some examples of how putting in the hard work can and will pay off- I'm so proud of all of them!
This week's Something to Watch is an amazing feature from another colleague of mine (a great follow here and on the X), Ryan McGee We go way back and I had his latest book here a few weeks back (look him up- its great) in the Read section. This is some powerful stuff and worth your time.
This week's Something to Read is for the football fans out there. Connor Groel is also a current teammate of mine at CBS. He is part of our outstanding research team, and he wrote this book with more than its share of interesting football tales- GREAT stuff!
This week's Something to Listen To is a short video for the creatives out there. Rick Rubin is a music producer who I have featured here a couple of times in past editions. His theories on creativity here are pretty cool. His latest book is worth checking out and any podcast he is on has way more of this kind of stuff.
Here are the Top 10 roles I saw this week, and this is an all-CBS Sports edition. With so much going on with our team, I had to post our best 10. LOTS of great possibilities below with more on the way, so please reach out here to me so I can get you in front of the right people quickly!
