Around the Bases 7/27
Welcome back! Mid-July already and the fall sports season is closer than you think! The push for 900 subscribers is on, and any word you can spread about what is going on at ATB would mean a lot. Thanks to all of you for reading this each week- I have had some awesome feedback and that helps out so much.
I've had a few conversations this week that have centered on "The How" when it comes to finding a new path. More often than not, my answers focused on the process of getting your already great value out there to as many eyeballs as possible. The skills you have gathered up in your roles have added up to something. You've done a lot of work to build those skills up. The next step is to relentlessly push out what you have done to interested parties. They are out there- I have just seen 3 of my colleagues land at a place I'm sure they could have never imagined when we were all pouring over the next Top 10 Plays production a few years back. Is it easy? No, but if you know what you want, it won't seem like work and you never know what will unravel if you keep the yarn in the yarn box.
This week's Something to Watch is a quick one with some great advice for aspiring creatives (or anyone, really) Robert Rodriguez is a pretty great filmmaker (and a musician and cook), and he has a few videos out under the title "10 Minute Film School". He offers some great insight here in the original episode.
This week's Something to Read has been around for a bit, but it has helped so many. If you are a little stuck and have fallen victim to the procrastination bug, this might just do the trick. Brian Tracy penned this back in 2017, and it still rings true today.
This week's Something to Listen To is a podcast I came across the other day with tons of great episodes and I felt this one here would be a nice spark- it certainly was for me. The Science of Success offers quite a bit of content on all sorts of topics and is really worth checking out.
Here are the Top 10 Jobs I saw this week, with the first 5 coming from our team at CBS Sports. The Golazo Network is looking for all kinds of roles, just a few are posted here, but there are so many others at all kinds of experience levels! They are getting ramped up for the upcoming season, so act quickly if you have any interest. We are also looking for a remote social media content producer as well (not posted here). I am a connection for the CBS spots and may have a connection or 2 at the others, so please reach out to me here on LinkedIn or email me at [email protected] to find out more.

The Portland Trail Blazers are looking for a Producer.
To borrow a quote from a trailer I saw- "What if I told you there was an incredibly experienced person in the sports media field that could help you with just about anything you could imagine in your career path? What if I told you that your journey into and through this industry could be aided by a someone who has spent a majority of their career doing just that for his teammates in the organizations he was a part of?"
I hope that wasn't too over the top, but after a few calls this past week, I know I can make an impact on what you maybe seeking as you find your way in the sports media business. Answers are hard to come by, and I think I can get you in the right direction as you plot your path. Be it your resume, website, content/portfolio reels, or just general 1 on 1 counseling to brainstorm ideas, I have been around enough to help you out. Please check out my website below and see where we can get started. A free consultation call is all it takes, please email me at [email protected] for more info.
That's a wrap for this week, and thanks so much for your time here and the mentions- the community here keeps growing steadily and you all play a part in that. Have a great weekend!
