Around the Bases 4/13
Welcome back! Wishing everyone well in the community here and thanks for taking part in the newsletter each week. I've been getting a lot of great feedback this month, and it is really helping me come up with some helpful content each week.
Things in our industry continue to be less than ideal, as hiring freezes are popping up to go along with the layoff buzz that has been around the past few months. If your head is spinning and you're not sure about a lot of things, be sure of this: It's not your fault. It's not theirs either, and blaming yourself, the place you work or the industry you are in isn't going to do you any good. What will serve you well is remembering your own value, and that it goes way beyond what your role is or was at work. I was at a place for a long time, but my experiences there had zero to do with who I am. I had my times doubting that for sure, but taking some time each day reminding myself of my value there really helped me get through those times and I think that can help you as well.
This week's Something To Watch comes from the Sports Emmy nominations list that came out this week. My new job has brought me to the team at CBS Sports, and I saw this the weekend of the Army/Navy football game. This is the tease for this year's game, great stuff here for anyone needing a little boost (parents beware- the end IS gonna get you!).
This week's Something To Read is a book about leadership. If you are familiar with "Make Your Bed" (was in an edition of the newsletter last year), it is by the same author, Admiral William H. McRaven. More great, simple advice is presented here.
This week's Something To Listen To is for the sports fans out here. It's a podcast called "Finding Mastery" and this episode has George Mumford "the Mindfulness Performance Whisperer" as a guest. George has worked with his share of NBA stars (and lots of others) to help push them into new areas of growth.
Here are the Top 10 roles I saw this week. The first 5 are with our team at Paramount. We have a ton going on at CBS Sports as well (yes we are hiring!). I am a direct connection for the Paramount roles, and I may be a connection for the others as well, so lease DM me here or email me at [email protected] for more.

That's a wrap for this week- the weather is getting great, and outside is a great place to get away from the craziness that surrounds us sometimes. Thanks again for your time here- see you next week!
