Around the Bases 3/28

Welcome back! The month has flown by, and I'm looking forward to the warmer weather and the changing landscape that comes with it (maybe not the yardwork). Thanks for your time here each week, your participation means so much as the 2 year mark for the newsletter is fast approaching.

I had a great talk earlier in the week that really gave me a boost. The chat was about something I preach here all of the time about knowing what you want and how that helps you on your quest to get to that point. Clearing your head and focusing on that goal requires you to weigh the obstacles in your path and see how much you are willing to sacrifice and deal with. At times however, you may see something else as you visualize your path and realize you are already there. Sorting that out is tricky, but having the courage to put your best self out there and reach out to the people who may be able to help you might get you closer to what you are looking for than you think.

This week's Something to Watch is a great feature from the Women's College Hoops World. Kara Lawson is running the show at Duke as they are headed to the sweet 16 this weekend. An awesome story about someone you should all see. An inspiring path for sure that took her from the courts at Tennessee, to the studios at ESPN, to the NBA as an assistant with the Celtics and now as the head coach at Duke. Lessons galore here.

Handle Hard Better

This week's Something to Read appealed to me right away. Scott Galloway (a great follow anywhere) is a really interesting guy and this book he wrote is not new, but sheds some light on some things in a unique way.

The Algebra of Happiness

This week's Something to Listen To is a short podcast episode I ran into from Zak Rosen (another great follow) created called "The Best Advice Show". I have had a tough time slowing things down of late, and this was a HUGE help.

With the new season of Survivor underway, the importance of alliances relative to the gameplay emerges almost right away. Yes, it's a game show, but that part of it isn't too far off. The alliances you make as you are plotting your pathway professionally are critical to achieving your goal. If you find yourself on an island and need an ally to hep you out, we should talk. The sports media industry is always on the move, making your trip to the next challenge difficult. My knowledge of the industry (for both behind and in front of the camera built on years of experience), positive approach, and a contact list a mile long can give you the edge you need. Resumes, LinkedIn profiles, and reel reviews are just some of the areas my 1-on-1 coaching can provide you assistance with. Feel free to check out my website below and set up a free consultation call- you won't regret the investment you are making in yourself.

Stormers 15th Media Group

Before we wrap, a quick shout to those here in the community starting something new (you know who you are!). Another milestone number of the membership is approaching, so thanks again for telling your contacts about what we have going on here at ATB. See you next week!
