Around the Bases 12/14
Welcome back! Thanks as always for taking the time here each week, and a huge shout out to the first-timers as well. The climb to 1100 subscribers is in full swing, so thanks for the word of mouth to help the community keep on growing.
Reaching out can be hard, I know from my own firsthand experiences. I was a little frozen when it came to reaching out to people I didn't know to see how they might be able to help me out. Like a lot of things, plenty of repetitions helped me get past that for the most part. The caption that goes in the intro means a lot, so know your value and take your shot, because no one else will take it for you.
This week's Something to Watch is an incredible speech from a great go-to YouTube channel that has occupied this space before called "The Welcome Channel". Amazing content worth your time, and what I found this week blew me away. Chris Shepherd runs an incredible non-profit known as the Southern Smoke Foundation which is worth looking into, especially this time of year. The video is the first link, then the website.
This week's Something to Read is a book that can help you tap into your creative side from Herbert Lui . From my time in this business, I have been lucky to be around some unbelievably creative people and it is a side of myself I need to use a little more. Opening your mind to the unconventional might just be the path you need to get where you want to go.
This week's Something to Listen To is a podcast just launched by a couple of colleagues of mine from back in the day at ESPN. Football Sundays were always a great time producing with Mike Hill on the set telling the stories of the day, and Eunice Elliott was a terrific PA before she hit it big out in the world doing so many amazing things in comedy, news anchoring, writing books, you name it. When I found out these 2 have a podcast, I had to get it out there!
Here are the Top 10 roles I came across this week, with the first 5 coming from our team at CBS Sports (the first 3 are in our Stamford office). The hiring calendar may be slowing as the year winds down, but there is a lot out there to get ahead of once the calendar flips. I can get you right into the process at the CBS roles and may have a way into the other roles as well, so please DM me here or email me at [email protected] to find out more.

In just about any industry, "The Pitch" plays such a huge part of any successful team. To all of the producers out there (at ay level) you are always pitching. For me, I've seen (and pitched myself) everything from highlight ideas to shows. When you are looking for a new role or a way to do something else at the place you currently work, you are pitching yourself. If you need someone to assist you along the way (a pitching coach?), we should talk. I have a number of ways to assist you in the process, so feel free to check out my website below and see how we can help each other. With well over 2 decades in the business, I have the knowledge needed to shine a light in the areas you may need. Take your shot and email me at [email protected] and set up a free consultation call.
That's a wrap for this week- a final shout out to those in the community starting something new (you know who you are!). Thanks again for your time here, it means more than you can know- see you next week!
