Arnoldo Rubio (1902-1970)

"Mexican Man at the Well"

c. 1930 - 1935

Born in Mexico on April 18, 1902. Rubio studied at the Mexico City Academy of Fine Arts for four years before moving to Los Angeles in 1917. During the 1930s he fulfilled mural commissions for the Federal Art Project. He died of alcoholism in Los Angeles on June 3, 1970. Exh: Ebell Club (LA), 1933; Painters & Sculptors of LA, 1934; LA City Hall, 1939. In: San Bernardino Post Office.
