Army veteran expands Surrey gym to help women with fitness journey ???

A popular group training gym has opened for women in Surrey.

Transform Hub Egham is now a mixed site after a successful first 12 months.

Owner Jon Compton, who has been in the fitness industry for ten years, sees the change as an exciting growth phase.

With a focus on results and accountability, members benefit from nutrition plans, 1-2-1 coaching, goal setting sessions and can track their progress weekly on a high-tech body scanner.

The unique group setting also gives a community feel as members work together and encourage each other to improve their health and mindset.??

Jon was inspired to help others after struggling with his own health and years of low self-esteem.

“We know the model works and our unique approach has led to some amazing outcomes for members. One of my biggest aims now is to help women feel the same self-esteem.”

The first mixed cohort train together at Transform Hub Egham

The 43-year-old from Thames Ditton describes being badly bullied at school after moving from Suffolk to Essex.

He said: “I had a difficult childhood which led to a lot of problems in my adult life around self-worth.”

The father-of-one joined the army at 18 serving in the 1st Battalion Royal Anglian Regiment.

He said: “Although I didn’t appreciate it at the time the army taught me the importance of developing self-discipline and working on my self-belief.

“It was actually a pivotal moment in my life because I realised a lot of my self-destructive behaviour was a coping mechanism and it was a wakeup call to do something about it.”

However, with his fitness slipping aged 30, he decided to get back into shape with a personal trainer.

Inspired by the transformation he went on to quit corporate life and open a series of gyms.

He said: “I have overcome many difficulties in my life, and I now recognise that pain in others.

“I’ve had guys join who are unsure of themselves, who feel desperate, or lost, and within a matter of weeks, they say to me it’s changed their life."??

A busy induction session at Transform Hub Egham

Laura McGlynn has signed up for the gym’s six-week body transformation programme.

The 44-year-old beautician from Staines-upon-Thames said: “I’ve always thought about getting a personal trainer but it’s too expensive.

"I’ve enjoyed gym classes in the past so Transform Hub feels like the best of both worlds.

“You get support with training and meal planning, but in a group environment, where you can encourage and motivate each other.

“Also being in my 40s I didn’t want to go to a gym with mirrors everywhere, full of Instagrammers huffing and puffing.”
