James Freed vs ICMA
Big news this week as Port Huron, Michigan city manager James Freed issued a public statement along with releasing a 20-page court filing from his legal team.
The key takeaway from this event was that Freed made two declarations:

Additionally, the ICMA responded to the pressure I have been putting on the organization by releasing a statement that was pure gaslighting. I have no clue who authorized the release of the statement -- but the ICMA is claiming that the organization's process was "thorough, thoughtful, and professional."
When you review Freed's court filing and read the testimony provided under oath by ICMA CEO Marc Ott and staff you will see that the ICMA is gaslighting its members.

2 个月Bill of rights? Hmm. Im sure you realize that the executive search industry ( a $12B a year sector) has its own associations and organizations, not so different than what is evolving here. Why reinvent the wheel? Lean on them for best practices and more?

2 个月If you go to the Hyde Park, VT story there is an interesting and informative free speech auditor sidebar article out of Stowe last week. Worth the read since it looks like the town hall staff held up well considering the circumstances.
