Beverage maker Arizona Iced Tea is teaming up with Dixie Brands — which sells cannabis products in five U.S. states — to produce marijuana-laced gummies and drinks for Canada and the U.S., reports The Wall Street Journal. Dixie’s board still needs to approve the deal, which would see Arizona Beverage buy a $10 million stake in the company, giving it a lead in the U.S. cannabis industry. Yet, “it’s still a risky move,” says the Journal; cannabis is prohibited federally and the product cannot be transported across state lines, while many finance institutions still balk at money derived from cannabis-product sales. ? In an effort to lessen the financial burden of prescription drugs, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recently announced it would facilitate the importation of certain drugs from Canada. Americans spend roughly US$1,200 per person per year on prescription drugs — more than anywhere else in the world. So how would such a plan work? First, the FDA would have to acknowledge the Canadian imports were safe and effective. The plan wouldn't apply to biologics, including insulin. Adding competition from a foreign market could force drugmakers in the U.S. to lower their prices. Opponents fear the new program could clean out drug shelves in Canada. ? Samsung launched its Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+ phones — without the 3.5mm headphone jack. The move comes three years after Apple first removed its socket — something Samsung was quick to mock at the time. Samsung says removing the jack makes space for a roughly 2%-3% bigger battery and improved haptic feedback because of the lack of a hollow cavity, reveals The Verge. The 6.3-inch Galaxy Note 10 starts at $949, and the 6.8-inch Note 10 Plus from $1,099. ? Here’s what people are saying.
If you're worried about the consequences of swearing on the job, you can stop. According to a recent study, people who swear at work may often seem more honest, credible and persuasive, and it can even reduce stress and boost morale. Keep in mind that it does still make some people uncomfortable. If you're sensitive to hearing bad language, best avoid working in health care. Data shows those in the health care industry have the worst mouths, while those in the finance sector are right behind, reports The Financial Times. ? Here’s what people are saying.
Millennials and Gen Zers in the U.S. may be in for a rougher retirement than their parents thanks to the increasing number of companies nixing pension plans, says Axios. Companies are increasingly offering younger workers 401(k)s and other savings accounts that are more vulnerable to market swings. Data show 52% of 70-year-old households have access to a pension plan — typically guaranteeing them a fixed amount of money during their golden years — compared to less than 20% of households led by people 43 years old and younger. ? Idea of the Day: Just because a potential employee doesn’t have a similar background as you, does not mean they shouldn’t be given the opportunity, says Arne Sorenson, President and CEO at Marriott International.
“Corporations have a critical role to play in expanding economic security and increasing upward mobility for women – as well as men, families and the communities where they operate.”

5 年Wondering why the Canadian cannabis processors are not pushing for doing gummies and other confectionery products. I have heard of only one doing something in this market. Everyone talks a good game, but just talk. We will loose another product to the US if we don't get our act together.
