1/ ETH price has surpassed the $3,000 level

Over the past two weeks, Bitcoin has decreased by 2 percent to $51,000. However, the Ethereum market situation looks much more interesting.

ETH briefly crossed the psychological barrier of $3,000 a few times. However, each time, a small correction followed. Despite this, there was no significant collapse in the valuation of ETH, which may indicate that the next attempt to reach $3,000 will be successful.

2/ Polish Belka Tax to be changed

In the coming days, the Polish government is expected to present changes regarding the Belka Tax, which concerns capital gains taxation. There has been talk of changing it for several weeks now. Now, Deputy Finance Minister Jaros?aw Neneman has confirmed this. We are expected to learn the details in a few days, still in February.

"We are discussing with government representatives changes to the Belka Tax, which is the capital gains tax. We have been advocating for its abolition or limitation for a long time," said Tadeusz Bia?ek, President of the Polish Bank Association, during a press conference on Thursday.

The change is not expected to apply to investments below 100,000 PLN and lasting more than 1 year. It is not yet known whether it will also affect cryptocurrencies.

3/ Donald Trump: Living with Bitcoin is possible!

The topic of Bitcoin has once again surfaced in the US election campaign. Donald Trump, appeared on Fox News. During the interview, he was asked about his attitude towards BTC. He said that more Americans want cryptocurrency in stores.

"To be honest, [crypto]currency has begun to live its own life," he said, adding that he supports regulation of this market.

This declaration is significant because earlier he was in favor of cracking down on the cryptocurrency market and viewed BTC as a tool for criminals.

4/ Reddit bought BTC and ETH

Lastly, a piece of news from the business world, also from the USA. Reddit is going public. However, from the form submitted to the SEC, we also learn that the company has purchased BTC and ETH.

"We have also acquired and hold digital assets that are cryptocurrencies, for use by our product and engineering teams," it reads.

Enforcement of cryptocurrency in practice — in Poland and worldwide

Cryptocurrency auctions are not just theoretical; they've already happened globally, including in Poland. Earlier this year, a Bitcoin auction took place in Bia?ystok, where the Tax Office was involved. The starting price was 55,000 PLN, 75% of its estimated value. Classified as movable property, the cryptocurrency underwent auction procedures as required by regulations. This public auction featured 0.40716622 BTC, with participants required to pay a 10% deposit of the estimated value upfront, totaling 7,293.52 PLN.

About four years ago in Sweden, authorities seized 36 Bitcoins from illegal online sales. These belonged to a man accused of Internet drug trafficking in April 2019. The confiscated Bitcoins were initially valued at about 1.3 million Swedish kronor (around 580,000 PLN). Before the Swedish Enforcement Authority auctioned the cryptocurrency, its value surged tenfold. Thus, selling only 3 Bitcoins covered the required amount, leading to the decision to return the remaining 33 to the prisoner, despite their origin from illegal activity.

While cryptocurrencies are increasingly popular, there's still limited awareness about their enforceability. However, it's crucial to treat cryptocurrencies like any other asset of the debtor.

To enhance the enforcement of virtual currency units, regulations must adapt to include them in enforcement proceedings, like bank accounts. Debtors should recognize the criminal consequences of concealing assets. Lawmakers must modernize regulations to streamline enforcement processes, ensuring clarity for creditors and bailiffs alike.
