1/Will the Fed Start Cutting Rates?

We have new data regarding CPI inflation in the USA. In June 2024, it was only 3%. This is according to official data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), and it’s 0.1% lower than analysts predicted. June marks the third consecutive month of declining price growth rates.

This is a crucial piece of information for the market. The Fed now has another factor that could encourage authorities to cut interest rates. A few days earlier, it was revealed that the number of people looking for jobs in the USA had increased. This is another factor that could prompt Jerome Powell and his colleagues to cut interest rates.

2/ Does Alior Bank Allow Cryptocurrency Trading?

You may have seen headlines in the Polish media suggesting that Alior Bank allows cryptocurrency trading. This is not entirely true.

Alior has indeed opened up to cryptocurrencies, but it allows trading in CFDs on BTC and ETH. This means betting on the future price of Bitcoin or Ether, rather than gaining full exposure to either digital currency. Investing in CFDs is also more complex than holding coins.

“CFD contracts are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. 74% of retail investor accounts lose money trading CFDs. Consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford the high risk of losing your money,” the bank warns on its website.

3/ Tron is Working on a Free Stablecoin

Tron aims to introduce a free stablecoin to the market. In practice, this means the stablecoin will operate without gas fees (network fees), making transactions cost-free.

Details of the project are unknown. It is only known that it is set to launch in the fourth quarter of this year, initially on the Tron network, and later on Ethereum and other Ethereum Virtual Machine-compatible blockchains.

4/ The German Government is Out of Bitcoins

Finally, let's discuss the drop in BTC prices. In recent days, we’ve seen Bitcoin prices fall. The reason? The German government has sold coins on major exchanges that it seized years ago from an illegal pirate movie platform.

Currently, the German authorities have around ~ 5,800 bitcoins. They have sold 44,200 BTC, or 88.4% of the 50,000 BTC originally in the wallet.

This could mean that the worst of the price drops is behind us.

Payment with Crypto for Goods and Services: Additional Consequences of Not Paying via Bank Transfer

Regulations concerning the inclusion of specific expenses in the costs of obtaining revenue may also apply to the acquisition or production of fixed assets or the acquisition of intangible assets and legal rights, as well as to payments made after the liquidation of non-agricultural business activities and after switching to a lump-sum tax form, as specified in the lump-sum income tax act. This is stated in both Article 22p, paragraph 3, point 1 of the PIT Act, and Article 15D, paragraph 3, point 1 of the CIT Act. When the initial value of fixed assets and intangible assets includes payments made in violation of the obligation specified in Article 19 of the Entrepreneurs' Law, two situations may arise.

Firstly, depreciation deductions will not be included in the costs of obtaining revenue (in the case of depreciation deductions made after payment).

Secondly, taxpayers will then be required to reduce the costs of obtaining revenue by the amounts of depreciation deductions already included in the costs of obtaining revenue (in the case of depreciation deductions made and included in the costs of obtaining revenue before payment).
