Argentine businessmen criticized the opposition project to stop increases in electricity and gas
In a fact rarely seen in recent years, the Business Convergence Forum that brings together the main business institutions claimed "responsibility" to political leaders of the opposition regarding the setting of tariffs for public services. They considered "essential to leave aside the electoral speculations and the desire to confront the Government, which are clearly present in the proposals presented by various sectors of the opposition and accept the decisions already taken that, following the guidelines dictated by the Supreme Court, were approved in public hearings. "
At hours that the proposals against the increase of tariffs are treated in the Chamber of Deputies, the businessmen asked "to find solutions to the critical situation of the energy market, without appealing to demagogic resources that make it back on the path initiated" by the government of Macri.
In addition, they questioned: "The freezing of tariffs for public services has produced significant distortions in the markets and has led Argentina to become a net importer of energy resources when it first exported them." They assured that it also causes a "discouraging" effect for investment "in generation, transportation and distribution".
