Argentina's criminal network

Argentina's economic outlook continues to deteriorate, as inflation reached 2.9% during January 2019, with a whopping 49.3% during the past 12 months.
The International Monetary Fund rescued Argentina with a $ 57 billion emergency package last year, yet it expects the South American nation to continue in recession during 2019, with its Gross Domestic Product shrinking by 1.7%.
Consumer spending, unemployment and poverty, are all expected to deteriorate this year. As a result, major employers have filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection, while attempting to restructure debts with creditors.
Multiple factors can be attributed to Argentina's recent economic collapse, making President Macri entirely responsible for the country's economy during the past 3 years.
Unfortunately, poor economic policy isn't the only problem that Argentina has had to deal with since President Macri's administration began. Corruption and organized crime are rampant, becoming clear obstacles for small and medium-sized businesses in the South American nation.
EXTORTION AS A BUSINESS ENTERPRISE
While businesses struggle to survive, a huge extortion ring has surfaced, involving high profile members of Argentina's Judiciary.
A recent investigation, supported with overwhelming audio and video recordings, revealed that Mr. Marcelo D'Alessio, an individual with ties to senior judiciary officials, was extorting business owners, requesting up to $ 300,000. If the extorted business owners did not comply, they were under threat of being sent to jail.
Mr. Marcelo D'Alessio, the nephew of Argentina's top Notary Public named by Macri's administration, was recently detained for running an illegal extortion ring. Among his contacts is none other than Argentina's top Federal Prosecutor, Mr. Carlos Stornelli.
Mr. D'Alessio gained public notoriety as a narcotics expert, thanks to his multiple contacts in Argentina's Corporate Media, including Mr. Daniel Santoro, a senior journalist of Clarin.
Through Mr. Santoro, Mr. D'Alessio gained access to various TV Shows in Argentina, obtaining celebrity status as a criminal investigator.
He was applauded and celebrated by the corporate media, while committing crimes.
Far from being a criminal investigator, Mr. D'Alessio was part of an extortion ring.
Mr. D'Alessio (left) was secretly photographed with Federal Prosecutor, Mr. Carlos Stornelli (right), at a coastal restaurant in Buenos Aires just a few weeks ago.
Sadly, the individuals responsible for investigating organized crime and corruption in Argentina are nothing but criminals themselves. They are able to make a killing extorting small and medium-sized business owners who struggle to stay afloat.
By the looks of it, impunity in Argentina can keep a smile on any corrupt official's face.
RACIST INNUENDO
To add insult to injury, Argentina's population was recently reminded of the racial bias in favor of white people.
The Ministry of Production, currently headed by Mr. Dante Sica, came up with a subtle representation of how the tax burden is demographically distributed. Frankly, the image can only be described as subtle racist propaganda.
Mr. Sica replaced Mr. Francisco Adolfo Cabrera less than 6 months ago, as the latter was completely disastrous in his post, while Argentina's manufacturing sector got decimated.
Mr. Adolfo Cabrera would have likely been a more fitting Minister to subtly propose that Argentina's white population must burden the brown minorities. But instead, it was done by Mr. Sica, who continues to oversee the destruction of Argentina's manufacturing sector.
Dante's inferno would seem like poetic justice for Mr. Sica. Luckily, he will be out of a job in a matter of months.
A GLIMMER OF HOPE
Argentina is expected to have general elections this year, likely ending the period of turmoil and chaos that Mr. Macri has brought to the South American Nation.
Government polls currently have Ms. Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner as the top contender to replace Mr. Macri, for good reason, as the latter has been disastrous.
With any luck, Argentina will finally begin its recovery, just like it did in 2003, with an experienced President that will swiftly put the South American nation back on track.
In the meantime, Happy Birthday Ms. Fernandez de Kirchner!

5 年Mr McCarthy I just finished reading your article, fortunately I've read the one written by Horacio?Verbitsky and he is not very popular because local media likes to hide this kind of information, so it's nice and refreshing to see that at least someone in the US is paying attention (https://elcohetealaluna.com) Thank you for sharing this and try to avoid the "ad hominem" fallacies that some of your readers are commenting in this post. I hope one day they can also open their minds and eyes to really see what is under the hood.? Keep it up!

5 年Believe me Mr. McCarthy. I am writing this without any intention of offending you, but I am starting to suspect that you were and still are an active lobbyist for the couple of KK rascals. I am meaning the surviving spouse Cristina and her deceased husband Nestor. I am certainly not a fan of the present government staff, but compared with the former administration of thieves, they are wonderful.
