Argentina says Trump agreed to evaluate tariff exemption request

U.S. President Donald Trump agreed during a call with Argentine President Mauricio Macri to consider Argentina's request for an exemption from tariffs on steel and aluminum imports.

In a statement, the Argentine government said Macri had "expressed his concern about the potential negative effect of these measures" during a call. Argentina previously said it would seek to join Mexico and Canada in getting an exemption to the tariffs, which Trump finalized in a proclamation.

The presidency said Trump was committed to "evaluating a request so that Argentina can be exempt from any restrictive measures that affect steel and aluminum exports" to the U.S. Trump has said that he wants to protect U.S. producers. But businesses and U.S. trading partners worldwide have warned the measure could trigger a trade war.

The tariff is a negotiation tool. Friends and allies will get an exemption, so they should request it. This is not a measure to end relationships. It’s specifically made to realign trade relationships. Especially the Chinese trade deficit.

World free trade! What free trade the Worlds biggest supporter of free trade has turned its back on free trade! It’s time to stop Brexit and think again about the EU. China has no need of the UK, the USA has turned there back on free trade, Russia has invaded Europe (Ukraine)has shot a European airliner out of the Sky and could have killed any amount of people in the UK! India has no interest in buying from the UK and as for are great and trusted friends in the land down under looks like they signed a deal to buy new warships from France! It’s time to wake up this is your future and our nations future we are destroying if we leave the EU. It’s your choice your future and your children’s future we have not left the EU yet and this decision can still be overturned with your help!
