Architect of Dreams - JSW!

Lesser would someone believe when it is said that an entire city can be born out of a company. The first question would be "How's that possible?". Companies are meant to do business, make profits and expand. They are defienitely not to build cities or communities around them. But history always proves us wrong and so does a pioneering company like the JSW .

The story of Vijaynagar starts off as a barren piece of uncultivatable land back in the 90's and going on to become one of the most industrialised and established cities of the country today. In the 90's if someone looked at this place, they would say its just barren land and what could one do with it. That was not the thought process of the Jindals and especially Mr. Sajjan Jindal. What others would have seen as just barren land was indeed seen as a future city of growth, sustainability, development and community living by the visionary leader Mr. Sajjan Jindal. He is probably one person after the Tatas whom I respect the most for his vision and philathropic thought process.

If someone asked me to name a company that truly established itself not just for their own self but the nation as a whole, my answer would be there is no one company in India that did it. The honest answer would be that there are many such companies in India which were more community oriented than just themselves and two companies that I have always looked up to are the Tata Group and the JSW .

Can someone build an empire out of nowhere? The logical or practical answer would be "No" but before one answers they must look at the Vijaynagar steel plant and JSW group. I recently came across this wonderful video about the JSW group, which indeed compelled me to write this post. I couldn't stop myself from sharing this to my network of connections.

Here it is.

Architect of Dreams - JSW

Probably this was the first time in my many years of usage of the Youtube app on my phone, where I watched a video twice without skipping a second. Not because the video has been a great production but it kind of kindled every spirit in me and added fuel to my ever-burning desire of being a first-generation entrepreneur. JSW and Mr. Sajjan Jindal - a pioneer in the steel sector or a community builder or a philathropist or a leader of change - I'm still confused of the choices of names I have for him and this group.

Has it been a smooth sail for the group? Absolutely not. At every point, right from the beginning of the Vijaynagar plant, the group has undergone or experienced several catastrophical and global issues such as the 2008 global recession, 2011 Karnataka mining ban and even the 2019/20 Pandemic situation. This group and its visionary leaders have stood the test of the times and reiterated that their status quo was always, as told by one of their management members in the video - "Challenge the challenges". That's an interesting take and no doubt they own not just the place "Vijaynagar" but the hearts of the people in that community.

I must indeed urge all my connections to watch this video because I couldn't stop myself from replaying it again and again. And I'm sure any spirited and ambitious person would love such a video about a company that can truly be called the "Vijaynagar Samraj" of modern India.

From steel to energy, cements to paints, infrstructure to realty and now ventures to automobiles - the journey of this wonderful conglomerate - JSW is one of inspiration, ambitious, futuristic and indeed a nation builder.

What I loved the most was the humility and thought provoking way of their leaders' narration of the 25 year old journey of the company and the group.
