Archery Canada's Arrow-Sharp Journey from 2023 Triumphs to 2024 Horizons!

As we begin a new year, Archery Canada takes a moment to reflect on the remarkable achievements that have defined our journey in 2023 and look ahead to the exciting challenges and triumphs awaiting us in 2024.

Recap of Team Canada's Triumphs at the 2024 World Archery 3D Championships: Looking back at the Canadian Championships this summer, we proudly announced the stellar team that will represent Canada at the 2024 World Archery 3D Championships in Mokrice, Slovenia. Comprising 18 athletes across eight categories, this dynamic team showcases a mix of seasoned international competitors and rising stars. As we gear up for the challenge, the Canadian Archery Foundation will be supporting our team through the adopt-a-team fundraising program.

Memorable Domestic events and Record-breaking Performances in 2023: 2023 was a strong year for domestic events following several years of sport slow down as a result of the pandemic. With record breaking participation in the Canadian 3D Indoor Championships and the Canada Cup East, to multiple domestic record-breaking feats in various categories, 2023 has been a year of extraordinary achievements and milestones for Archery Canada. We are looking forward to further milestones in 2024, and start with the first edition of the Canadian 3D Indoor Championships to be held in Eastern Canada when it takes place this April in Sydney, NS.

Saluting our Sporting Officials on the Global Stage: Our heartfelt congratulations go to Mike Oneschuk, Randall Jones, and Eric Fok for their appointments to key events, including the Pan American Championships, Olympic Games CQT, and Para Pan American Championships. Their dedication to excellence in officiating continues to elevate the reputation of Canada in the world of archery.

Memorable Victories and Record-breaking Performances in 2023: Throughout the past year, our archers have left an indelible mark on the international stage.

Olympic Quota Spot and Silver Medal Glory for Eric Peters; Paralympic Quota spot for Kyle Tremblay: In a nail-biting performance, Eric Peters secured a silver medal, taking Olympic Champion Mete Gazoz to the edge and earning Canada an Olympic Quota spot for Paris 2024. This remarkable achievement reinforces the caliber of our athletes and sets the stage for continued success on the global stage. This was followed only a short two-months later with Kyle Tremblay's thrilling bronze medal victory in Santiago, Chile at the Para Pan Am Games, during which his path to the Bronze earned Canada a quota position for the Paralympic Games.

Archery Canada's Strategic Plan 2023-2028: A Blueprint for Success: Our Archery Canada 2023-2028 Strategic Plan, shared earlier this year, serves as a guiding compass for our collective efforts. Developed in collaboration with our esteemed community, it reflects our unwavering dedication to the growth and prosperity of archery in Canada. As we venture into 2024, let's continue to aim high and work together toward a thriving future for our beloved sport.

Canada: Host of the 2024 World Archery Field Championships: Anticipation is building as Lac La Biche prepares to host the 2024 World Archery Field Championships from September 16-22. Building on the success of previous tournaments, this event will showcase the talents of archers across three equipment disciplines and two age categories. With the promise of high-level competition and community support, we eagerly anticipate welcoming 250 athletes from 30+ countries to Canada.

Archery Canada President, Aaron Bull, shares his vision for the future: "As we celebrate our achievements and embrace the challenges ahead, let's unite in our dedication to shaping a vibrant and thriving archery community in Canada. Together, we aim for excellence and success in 2024 and beyond."

As we wrap up a year filled with accomplishments, challenges, and growth, we extend our gratitude to our dedicated volunteers, officials, partners, Clubs and the entire Archery Canada community. Here's to an exciting 2024 filled with new records, triumphs, and the continued growth of archery in Canada!
