Arc on Windows, On Deck: Peek

Arc on Windows, On Deck: Peek

Welcome to Vol. 1 of Arc on Windows, On Deck a mini digest sharing with you the goings-on and behind-the-scenes as we bring Arc to Windows. It's me Mark Llewellyn Dyer - I'll be your host as we dive into a fave feature coming to Windows soon, Peek.

You never realize how important something is to your daily workflow until you can’t use it anymore.

Peek is one of those small Arc features that seem subtle, but make a huge difference to your everyday life on the internet. In fact, once we were able to start using Arc for Windows beta as our daily driver at Browser HQ we quickly realized how much we needed Peek. And Tobi, the CEO of Shopify, would agree.

Life wasn't the same without Peek

Tell you more? Well, Peek is a convenient way to quickly preview links without leaving your current Pinned or Favorited Tab, keeping you in flow and on task.

Simply click on a new link from a Pinned or Favorited Tab, and Arc will automatically open that tab in Peek rather than as a new tab! You can then do a quick action on Peek and close it without interruption. The best tab is the one never made.

It’s great for things like checking a link in an email. The fact that you’re still in the same tab helps me keep focused on the original task - the email - and not get distracted by the new shiny content in the link.

The fact that Peek applies to your Favorite and Pinned tabs automatically means that it applies to more than just emails and links on social media — it applies to all the important websites in your life. Notion, Linear, GitHub, Confluence, Zendesk, Asana - you name it. For any Favorite or Pinned tab, you can Peek a link, save some time, and stay on task.

We’re so excited to welcome Peek to the Arc on Windows beta in a release coming to you soon - and huge shoutout to Sherry Shao for making this happen.

Sherry is the best!

And that's all for Vol 1. of Arc on Windows, On Deck!

Love your product just that the Windows version needs some polishing done, but that is to be expected as it is just 1.0. Honestly I can't wait to see what you guys add in the future.

It didn't work on my PC, it said something about my Windows 10 version not being supported. ??
